James Harris Media

James Harris is a freelance video editor, composer & graphic artist based in Toronto.

Visually, I work as a freelance video editor, graphic designer, motion designer, VJ, and occasional illustrator. Since graduating from York University's film program in 2010, I have been actively involved in a variety of film & video projects spanning a wide range of formats, such as documentaries, music videos, experimental films, web series, and factual tv shows. For the past few years, I’ve worked as an editor for the Webby-award-winning web video company, Underknown. I’ve written and produced hundreds of episodes for their award-winning series, What If, several of which have garnered millions of views. Since 2021, I’ve been promoted to showrunner, overseeing the production of the Your Body On channel. The show has over 1 million subscribers on Snapchat and close to 200k watched minutes on YouTube. I manage a team of writers, video editors, and researchers, as well as oversee the ideation and direction of the show.

Sonically, I specialize in music production, sound design, and composition for film. I am a keyboardist & songwriter in the bands RØISEN, Tush and The Future Primitive. I also write, produce & perform original music & DJ under the moniker Hemingway. I released my first album, Memoirs, through my own vinyl-imprint Cosmic Resonance Records, created in 2017 with my longtime friend and collaborator Chris Evans. I also produce music under the moniker Cydux, and recently released the Breathing Puddles EP on the same label. As a composer, I have completed works for clients such as Blood Brothers Brewery, Front Range Films, and Ryerson’s School Of Interior Design. Currently, I’m in the final stages of finishing a solo album for Hemingway.
